Google Chrome
Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Open Chrome: Launch the Google Chrome browser on your computer.
- Go to Settings: Click the three vertical dots (More) in the top-right corner and select "Settings".
- Navigate to "On Startup": In the Settings menu, find and click on "On Startup" on the left sidebar.
- Choose an option: You'll see three options:
- Open the New Tab page: This will open a blank New Tab page when Chrome starts.
- Continue where you left off: Chrome will reopen the last tabs you had open when you closed it.
- Open a specific page or set of pages: This allows you to choose which pages open on startup.
- Add or manage pages:
- If you chose "Open a specific page or set of pages," click "Add a new page".
- Enter the URL of the page you want to add and click "Add".
- You can add multiple pages, and they will open in the order you added them.
- Alternatively, you can click "Use current pages" to set the currently open tabs as your startup pages.
- Close Settings: Once you've configured your startup pages, you can close the Settings tab.
Now, when you open Chrome, it will load the pages you've designated as your startup pages.
Safari
To change the start page in Safari on a Mac, open Safari, go to Safari > Preferences, and then click the General tab. In the "Homepage:" field, enter the URL of the page you want as your start page or click Set to Current Page if you're already on the desired page. Ensure that "New windows open with:" and/or "New tabs open with:" are set to "Homepage" to make it your default.
Firefox
- Open Firefox settings:
Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner and select "Settings". -
Go to the Home section:
In the left sidebar, click on "Home". -
Choose your startup page:
Custom URLs:Select "Custom URLs..." and enter the URL of the page you want to use as your startup page.
- If you want to set a specific website as your homepage, you can also use the "Use Current Page" option when setting your homepage in Firefox settings
- You can use the "New Tab Override" add-on to customize what opens when you create a new tab.
Iphone and Ipad
For customizing the start page on an iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Safari app.
- Tap the Tabs button: (two overlapping squares).
- Tap the plus button: to open a new tab.
- Scroll down and tap Edit.
- Toggle on/off: the desired options like Favorites, Reading List, Siri Suggestions, etc., to customize what appears on your start page.
- You can also customize the background image.
To change the background image, tap the background image option and select an image from your photos or choose a default background.
Android Phone and Tablet
Steps to Set a Startup Page in Chrome for Android:- Open Chrome: Launch the Chrome browser on your Android device.
- Access Settings: Tap the three dots (More options) in the top right corner, then select "Settings".
- Find Homepage Settings: Under the "Advanced" section, tap on "Homepage".
- Choose a Homepage:
- Chrome's Homepage: Select this option to use the default Chrome homepage, which typically displays the Google search bar and recent news or updates.
- Custom Page: Select this option to enter a specific URL for your startup page. You can paste or type in the URL of your desired website.
- Confirm and Test: Your chosen homepage will be set automatically. You can test it by opening a new tab or closing and reopening Chrome.
